Forward ever, backwards never (In God we trust). "Nurturing Excellence. Inspiring Futures"
Bran-Den Junior School( Peppercorn Premier Schools Ltd)– Naivasha was conceived by its proprietor in 2007 during the turbulent times of the election violence. After a visit to her sister Margaret Mbaka in Naivasha, where her vehicle was vandalized by boys displaced by the violence, she felt a deep need to provide a safe haven and educational opportunities for affected children. With a degree in Education and a passion for children's welfare, she collaborated with her sister to purchase land in Naivasha. They divided the property, with Madam Janet establishing a school and her sister starting a holiday resort. In 2008, Madam Janet took early retirement from her senior managerial position in the IT department at the Housing Finance Company of Kenya. On January 12, 2009, she opened Bran-Den Junior School, named after her two sons Brian and Dennis, in the Peppercorn area of Nyondia, Naivasha. Initially planned as a kindergarten, the school quickly expanded to accommodate learners up to grade 6 due to high demand from parents. Madam Janet committed to providing affordable education in a nurturing environment and pledged to support at least five needy but talented students through to university. Under her leadership, the school presented its first KCPE candidates in 2011, achieving a mean score of 362 and a 100% transition rate to top provincial and national schools. This success established Bran-Den Junior School as a sought-after institution, attracting students from across Kenya and neighboring countries like Tanzania and Ethiopia by 2012. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the school reopened in 2021, continuing its tradition of excellence. However, Madam Janet's increasing external engagements began to impact the school's quality standards. Contemplating further studies in Education Management, she decided to lease the school to a principal and two other partners on May 1, 2021, after ensuring all candidates had completed their KCPE exams. Madam Janet then pursued a Master's degree in Education Management at Strathmore University, excelling in her studies and gaining recognition in the university's annual highlights. Shortly after her graduation in June 2024, she resumed the oversight of the school operations leading to the rebranding and relaunching of the school as PEPPERCORN PREMIER SCHOOL LIMITED. With renewed passion and a team of professionals, Madam Janet continues to drive the school towards new heights, with aspirations of establishing a university. Long live PEPPERCORN PREMIER SCHOOLS LIMITED, the brainchild of Madam Janet Mbaka!
Our school opened its doors on January 12, 2009, with a modest beginning of just 19 pupils. The director's son, who held admission number 1 (BD001) in the Top class, exemplified the director's trust in her vision and the institution. Today, he is in his second year at university, studying computer science, and is also a shareholder in the school. The school's first graduation ceremony, attended by the then-DEO, DC, Equity Manager, and other educationists and business leaders in Naivasha, highlighted our commitment to excellence, stakeholder involvement and community partnership.
By 2011, the school had enhanced its facilities and presented its first KCPE exam, achieving remarkable success with a mean score of 362. This placed the school among the top 10 private schools in Naivasha and first in the 0-50 category. The school received recognition from the late Mathews Abwoka, the then sub-county director, during a private/public award ceremony held at Nyondia Primary School in Naivasha.
The school continued to grow in all areas, with the director consistently investing in improved facilities and expanding extracurricular offerings to include farming, sports, music, and drama festivals. In 2013, the school received its full registration certificate from the Ministry of Education. Encouraged by this milestone, the director further invested in the school, constructing the first floor in 2014. The official opening of the new building was celebrated with a vibrant ceremony attended by Nakuru's County Director of Education, Madam Esther, as well as representatives from the church, the business community, the director's family, and friends. This achievement significantly elevated the school's status in the education sector, attracting many investors. In 2021, having transformed the school into a top-performing institution with state-of-the-art facilities, Madam Janet decided to lease out the school to pursue further studies and engage in other roles, including educational management consultancy, mentorship, and school board positions.
After leasing out the school between 2021- 2023 our director pursued further studies in Education Management at Strathmore University, where she excelled and was featured in the university's annual graduate highlights, with her story published on the university website. During this time, she continued to invest in enhancing the school's facilities, transforming it into a state-of-the-art institution. Upon graduating with her Master's in Education Management, she embarked on serious upgrade of her school in order to resume oversight from January 2025 and is set to resume oversight of the school from January 2025 when she will be re-opening the doors under a new school brand- PEPPERCORN PREMIER SCHOOLS LTD. Her plans include elevating the school's standards, implementing the CBC curriculum, and nurturing excellence while inspiring all stakeholders involved in the school's future.
